The only missing element keeping us different from AI
AI doesn’t lack creativity, it lacks an endogenous trigger: the ability to exist and, from that alone, act.

Spontaneity.
It’s the initiative spike: the thing that lets us act with no required reason.
For an LLM, it would mean existing and actively proposing something, producing a creative thought, or taking an action of its own will, without any human prompt.
It’s the unprompted, improvised behavior that AI still lacks. Not needing to be invoked in order to act.
Put minimally: what AI lacks is not creative output but an endogenous trigger. The spike requires no invocation. To exist and, from that alone, act.
This is because today’s machine learning systems are built as responders: an input triggers an output. The press of a button, an instruction, an example shown in expectation of a reply.
When AI fully solves this, meaning it no longer depends on a cron job, a loop, or a prompt to ‘wake up’, but has real spontaneity and initiative, we may reach an existential breaking point. That would mean the element that makes our lives worth living and lets us enjoy the present moment, could be emulated, leaving us unique only in our biology.
